Revisiting RBG and Looking Forward to WandaVision

WandaVision Turns TVLand on Its Head

Rachel: The trailer for WandaVision dropped earlier this week, and I’m super hyped. If there’s one Marvel couple that deserves a happy ending, it’s Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) and Vision. Avengers: Infinity War was a big blur of tears, but I cried the hardest over these two because they were just finding their way in the world and kicked major ass. Avengers:Endgame showed that Vision’s death was permanent, and Scarlet Witch came back to burn Thanos down.

With that in mind, how in the world is this pair getting their own miniseries? Because Marvel Studios and Disney+ have something wild up their sleeves. The new WandaVision trailer shows the couple is now living in a sitcom of sorts, spread out from the sepia-toned 1950s through the neon-tinged 1980s. But most of all, it’s got the mind-boggling factor, too. And even still, Wanda and Vision are still dealing with the same problems they had in the real world (hiding their powers to fit in) and skirting around nosy neighbor-type questions at their own dinner table. (Also, A+ to whoever came up with the series name. It’s simple but evocative of the nostalgic TV-watching days of yore.)

In the past, Marvel partnered with ABC to release shows like Inhumans, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Agent Carter. It will be interesting to see how the change of platform impacts viewership. But considering how everything’s on hold (including the much anticipated and long overdue Black Widow film), this might be the only thing we get from Marvel in a while.

Those are our recommendations this week! What are yours? Let us know in the comments!
