Finally, The Old Metal Bar-Steward Episode 13 is here! That’s right, my filthy animals, I’m baaaaaaack! I’ve been noticeable only by my absence these past few weeks, but now that my producer Mitch has finished his travels and my personal life is somewhat on track, I promise not to go AWOL again. Did you miss me? I missed you, faithful listener. This means it’s time for another dose of your weekly metal injection. What does your Old Metal Bar-Steward have lined up for you this time out, brought to you, in part, by 25YL Media and The Ruminations Radio Network?
First up, it’s Nutty Nugent watch. Even though I’ve been away, stupidity never sleeps, and old Ted has been taking pot-shots at Joe Biden and the Democrats, as well as spouting his usual rhetoric that Antifa and Black Lives Matter members were responsible for the Capitol Riots, and not his boy, Donald Trump. Then it’s over to miny Nugent, Aaron Lewis of Staind “fame,” who has decided that some imaginary force is trying to take the country away from him and his other right-wing nutjob friends. Kid Rock steps up to the plate next, while U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert has drawn the ire of Gene Simmons—and myself—for suggesting that, perhaps, we could move the Earth farther away from the Sun to stop global warming. Luckily, not all American’s are idiots, and Traci Guns has been talking a lot of sense about how the U.S. is viewed by the rest of the world.
Then it’s time for The Metal God Round-Up, as there’s been a fair whack of Judas Priest and Rob Halford news these past few weeks. Priest’s 50th-anniversary tour is due to kick off this year and it’s safe to say The Metal God is looking forward to it. He’s also been discussing coming out to MTV back in 1998, which was one of the most important moments in metal as it proved, at least to me, that metalheads are ahead of the curve when it comes to this sort of thing. Sadly, however, it doesn’t look as if KK Downing will be welcomed back into the fold anytime soon, as he’s said some inflammatory things about his ex-bandmates, while Tim ‘Ripper’Owens seems to have missed the point when it comes to people complaining about KK’s Priest just sounding like a tribute act.
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund is putting on a concert to mark the great man’s 69th birthday on Jully 10th, and with the likes of Lita Ford, Joey Belladonna, and Tony Iommi on the bill, it promises to be a stomper. In other touring news, Black Label Society is hitting the road again, as are Soulfly and Slipknot, with the latter almost finished with the recording of their new album. Corey Taylor has been discussing a possible Hall of Fame induction for the band from Iowa, and it’s safe to say he’s going to tell them to f*ck off.
Dee Snider has been on Celebrity Family Feuds and kicking ass while doing so. My favorite band in the f*cking world, Motorhead, is getting the graphic novel treatment, and I’m worried that Vince Neil’s voice might be beyond salvaging after recent live performances have gone awry.
In Auction Corner, there’s an update on the Alex Van Halen AND Kurt Cobain horrible self-portrait that went under the hammer. Finally, Jimi Hendrix is getting the bobblehead figure treatment in an utter TAKE MY MONEY moment.
As always, if you’re easily offended then The Old Metal Bar-Steward is probably not for you. You should know by now that the opinions expressed here are mine and mine alone and in no way reflect the opinions or thoughts of 25YL Media or The Ruminations Radio Network. But if you have a sense of humor, then the next 40 minutes should brighten up your day. I’ll be back in seven days’ time so until then, stay safe and stay metal, you filthy animals.
