On Silo Season 2 Episode 9, “The Safeguard”
This episode was written by Jessica Blaire, and directed by Amber Templemore. Silo is taken from a series of short stories by Hugh Howey.
Episode 9 opens with flashbacks of mysterious people in Silo 17 tracking Juliette since she entered back in Episode 1. Eventually, she is confronted by Audrey, Rick, and Eater who want her to get them access to the food inside Solo’s vault.
After discovering more things related to a boy named Jimmy Conway, Juliette realizes that is Solo’s real name and he was the head of IT’s son and not his shadow. He killed Audrey and Rick’s parents in self defense, but Juliette convinces them to make peace so Solo invites them all into the vault.
In Silo 18, Lukas Kyle learns there are 50 other silos and the founders created something called “the safeguard” that has an explanation in a tunnel in the depths of the silo. Lukas reaches the tunnel, where some kind of AI warns him that he can not repeat what he is about to see.
Billings shares the picture book page with his wife and with Robert Sims. Both the Sims and the Billings seem to be turning away from Bernard and favoring Mechanical’s cause. Bernard blames the rebels’ action on Billings and also continues to monitor Walker, unaware that Knox has discovered she is a traitor.
