On Murderbot S1E5, “Rogue War Tracker Infinite”
Written by Paul Weitz & Chris Weitz and directed by Paul Weitz
Mensah and the Preservation Alliance crew are able to revive and save Murderbot inside the habitat. Shortly after, Leebeebee, who claims she is from the DeltFall expedition that was massacred, arrives and confirms that her team was killed by SecUnits. The Alliance accepts her into their camp, where she develops a strange infatuation with Murderbot.
When removing the wires from the override module, Gurathin discovers that Murderbot has hacked its governor module even before it became a part of their team. Gurathin and Mensah debate on whether to still trust Murderbot, and they are surprised to learn how many hours of TV shows it has been watching since it gained its freedom.
The team believes there must be some hostile third party on the planet, so they believe they need to activate the emergency beacon. It is damaged, so it must be activated by hand. Mensah and Murderbot fly to the location of the beacon, and the episode ends with the beacon exploding just as the two arrive.
- We’re suspicious of Leebeebee, but should we be?
- Reflections on the Preservation Alliance’s whole thing
- Who is the third party?
