The PresAux team negotiates to acquire the SecUnit. They offer to buy it and also threaten with a lawsuit, but the company refuses. The team decides to take action, including Pin-Lee filing an injunction to seize Murderbot. Gurathin is able to use an old colleague to locate and download data from the memory wipe. He locates Murderbot’s files by searching for Sanctuary Moon episodes.
The team saves Murderbot from being put in an acid bath, and Gurathin uploads its personality back into its database.
Murderbot is invited to live with the PresAux on their home planet. That night, Murderbot attempts to sneak away but is found by Gurathin, who tries to make it feel welcome. Murderbot insists that it needs to check the perimeter. When Gurathin lets it go, Murderbot thanks him and decides to leave.
