Created by Brad Ingelsby, written by Brad Ingelsby, and directed by Jeremiah Zagar (S1E1, S1E2) and Salli Richardson Whitfield (S1E3, S1E4)
Across the first four episodes of Task, two damaged men on opposite sides of the law begin their journey towards each other. FBI agent Tom Brandis, haunted by his past and a family tragedy, is asked to lead a task force that is hunting the Halloween Crew. That crew, which has been robbing drug houses, includes Robbie Prendergrast, a single father who is trying to take care of two kids and a niece who lives with him.
In Episode 1, Robbie, Cliff, and Peaches execute a robbery that has deadly results and ends with Robbie taking home a young boy named Sam.
In Episode 2, Tom’s task force investigates the fatal drug house raid while Robbie pursues revenge for his dead brother.
In Episode 3, we are introduced to the Dark Hearts MC, who are hunting the murderers and kidnappers, while not realizing they have a leak within their organization. Robbie and Cliff seek a way to unload the drugs they stole, and Tom begins to suspect a mole on his task force.
In Episode 4, a sting operation is mounted to try to catch Cliff and save Sam, but a leak in the task force foils the plan. The Dark Hearts use their informant to capture Cliff and begin to torture him for information.
