On Pluribus S1E4, “Please, Carol”

Created by Vince Gilligan, written by Alison Tatlock and directed by Zetna Fuentes

The episode begins by introducing Manousos Oviedo, the Spanish-speaker who works at a storage facility and refuses to help or engage with the Others. We see him scanning radio frequencies, denying the food they provide for him, and scrounging for scraps of food in the storage units.

Carol begins to consider all that she has learned about the Others, and hypothesizes that they can not lie to her. She tests this theory by asking “Larry” what Helen really thought about Carol’s books and her unpublished novel.

Carol goes to the hospital to visit the recovering Zosia, and asks her if the Joining can be reversed. Zosia refuses to answer, so Carol comes up with a plan to inject her with truth serum to see if she will be honest about it.

When Zosia starts to lose control, Carol begins badgering her with questions about the Joining, but a group of Others surround them and begin chanting, “Please, Carol.” Zosia collapses from cardiac arrest and members of the Others try to revive her.

  • Where might things go with Manousos?
  • How do the Others feel about food?
  • Is Carol’s plan a good one?
