Created by Lee Sung Jin
Season 1 of Beef begins with a road rage incident between Danny, a contractor, and Amy, an entrepreneur. Danny and Amy become fixated on each other after the confrontation escalates and turns into an ongoing feud as both characters track each other down and begin interfering in each other’s lives.
Danny and his younger brother Paul work various construction jobs while dealing with financial stress and family issues. Amy runs a plant business and is dealing with pressure from her husband and her career. Danny and Amy begin retaliating in increasingly personal ways, including vandalism and catfishing.
Danny’s cousin Isaac, recently released from prison, reenters his life and pushes Danny toward risky jobs and decisions. Meanwhile, Amy begins an emotional affair under a false identity, complicating her situation at home.
Danny and Isaac become involved in a robbery scheme that goes wrong. Amy’s business deal with Jordan becomes jeopardized due to the chaos. Both Danny and Amy experience strained family relationships, legal trouble, and emotional breakdowns as their feud spirals out of control.
In the final episodes, the feud culminates in a confrontation involving the kidnapping of Amy’s daughter and a car chase that leaves both Danny and Amy stranded in the desert. Both are injured, and before they try to make it back home, they are forced to confront each other’s actions. The season ends with both characters coming to understand each other, but also being hospitalized after they make their way back to the city, after Danny is shot by Amy’s husband.
