On True Detective: Night Country Part 5
As New Year’s Eve approaches in Ennis, Evangeline Navarro collects her sister’s ashes. She and Rose go out to the frozen sea, crack open the ice, and pour them in.
Meanwhile, Liz Danvers visits Otis Heiss and insists that he help her find the entrance to the cave where Annie was killed. Danvers even agrees to give Otis heroin to convince him to come to the caves and be their guide.
Kayla kicks Pete Prior out of the house, and while he is bouncing around from bed to bed he discovers that the Tuttle Organization is funding the Silver Sky Mine and the Tsalal research station. Tsalal has been providing false pollution reports, something that Kate has been trying to keep under wraps
At the mine’s offices, Leah takes part in a violent protest and gets beaten by a police officer before Navarro intervenes. Danvers wants Leah to spend time in jail anyway.
When Danvers confronts Kate about the protest and the funding concerns, she and Connelly shut her down, and tell her the Tsalal case is closed—a weather event caused the deaths of the Tsalal men. Kate then meets with Hank and they discuss the death of Annie, which they were responsible for.
Danvers visits the bodies of all the stillborn babies killed by pollution from the mine, and decides she is not going to stop investigating. Danvers brings Otis back to her house where she has heroin, so he can get her to the caves. Hank follows them and kills Otis so he can’t take her. Hank turns the gun on Danvers, but Pete kills him before he can do anything.
Danvers, Pete, and Navarro agree to cover it up so they can keep looking into the Annie and Tsalal cases.
- Breaking down the Hank-Connelly-Kate conspiracy
- Is the “Night Country” just the area underneath the caves?
- What could they possibly find in cave to solve six year old murder?
